Differential treatment of specific nationalities in detention
Differential treatment in detention arose both during and after the implementation of the measure foreseen
under Article 79 L. 5218/2025 (suspension of access to asylum), with some applicants being exempted
from the blanket administrative detention accompanying the specific measure on the basis of
vulnerabilities and/or of belonging to nationalities with high-recognition rates (Eritrea, Sudan), while those
belonging to nationalities with low recognition rates (Egypt) remained in detention even after the measures
expiry.1257
