Table of actors Actor Description Reception and Identification Service (RIS) The RIS oversees the implementation of identification procedures (including registration, verification of identity and nationality, medical screening and a vulnerability assessment) and the provision of reception conditions to applicants for international protection. It operates six RICs and CCACs, including the CCAC in Samos, as well as 25 reception facilities across Greece for adult asylum seekers. Greek Asylum Service (GAS) The GAS is responsible for the asylum procedure, in particular for the registration and personal interview. Hellenic Police The Police carries out the identity and citizenship verification process for new arrivals of third country nationals in the police screening interviews. Frontex Frontex is the European Border and Coast Guard Agency that supports EU Member States and Schengen-associated countries in the management of the EU’s external borders. In the Samos CCAC, Frontex conducts police interviews for newly arrived asylum seekers European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA) The EUAA is an agency of the European Union mandated with supporting Member States in applying the package of EU laws that governs asylum and international protection.In Greece, it supports the activities of the RIS and the GAS, including with deploying caseworkers to Samos. 4
