In conclusion, the CPT wishes to raise the question of the present function of Attica State Mental Hospital for Children. Originally intended to be a psychiatric hospital for children, it now has over a hundred chronic, mostly mentally handicapped adult patients cared for by a medical team mainly specialising in child psychiatry. In order to ensure satisfactory care for these patients, particularly from the therapeutic point of view, particular attention should be given to this development in their age and condition. The CPT would welcome the Greek authorities' comments on this point.
