The respondent reported witnessing verbal and physical abuse inflicted on detainees. The detention officers reportedly took detainees in dark rooms, beat them with electric rods, and used isolation as a punitive measure. The respondent reported being kept in a dark room alone for approximately 25 days without access to a toilet, water, a bed or any source of natural light. Furthermore, people needing urgent medical attention were not provided with assistance by the authorities.
