Περίληψη της υπόθεσης: The applicant, a Sudanese national, escaped Sudan and travelled through Syria and Turkey to reach Greece. Due to his role as an active member of an anti-government student movement, the applicant claimed the regime arrested and tortured him three times. After entering the country without authorisation, the applicant applied for asylum at a police station and authorities detained him at Paramythia Police Station and Filiates Police Station for a total of fifteen days. Officials repeatedly rejected his attempts to appeal against his detention. The applicant ultimately withdrew his asylum application and returned to Sudan. The applicant lodged complaints about the conditions of the police stations and the fact that he faced detention despite appearing voluntarily at a police station to claim asylum. The Court ruled that police stations were inappropriate facilities for detention while individuals waited for administrative decisions. While the Court found a violation of Article 3, it determined there was no violation of Article 5(1).
