The respondent is in his 30s and is Kurdish. He approached Didymoteicho police station to ask for asylum, where he was asked for his details for two minutes. He was scared that he would be pushed back to Turkey, but was taken to Isaakio police station for two nights, before being transferred to Fylakio. Isaakio police station was small, and he was held in a cell without a working bathroom, and without food or water. The authorities wore green uniforms and were reportedly violent and racist. He was not provided any information in a language that he understood, until he organised a private lawyer who supported him. In Fylakio, he was held in a container with 12-13 people and provided with low quality food, and access to a doctor upon request. There was restricted access to outdoor space.
