The respondent is 23 years old and is from Afghanistan. When he was first arrested, he spent one month in a police station and then was transferred to Corinth PRDC. While there he was forced to sign papers in Greek and he received no information about his case. Detainees were allowed to go outside for a few hours every day but the outdoor space was very small. He lived in a container with 12 people and claimed that there were few functioning toilets and showers. The food was poor quality but they had the opportunity to buy items from the market once a week. There was no access to hygiene items but again they could buy it from the market. Their requests to see a doctor were almost always ignored. When there were fights between the detainees, detention authorities took those involved out of their cells and physically abused them in another room for an hour or two.
