In 2013, the CPT delegation reported that the Exarchia Police Station included a detention area in the basement with three cells with a capacity of 12 people. However, often the number of detainees was greater. The conditions of detention were described as “poor” in terms of hygiene, access to natural or artificial light and sanitary facilities. Similar conditions had been reported by the CPT following a visit in 2008.
