On 15 December 2012, a boat capsized after leaving Canakkale, Turkey, on its way to the Greek island of Lesvos, and 27 people died. The only survivor was a 16-year-old boy from Afghanistan: “When I woke up in the hospital, I asked to go to the morgue. I just wanted to know if they have found the bodies of my friends. I saw them there. It was very difficult.
