Working Paper 44/2014 Authors’ Information: Anna Triandafyllidou / Senior Research Fellow, ELIAMEP Anna Triandafyllidou is Professor and Director of a Programme on Cultural Diversity in a Globalised World at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies of the European University Institute, in Florence, Italy (2012- ). She is also Senior Fellow at the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP) in Athens since 2004 (on a full time basis until 2010) and teaches as Visiting Professor at the College of Europe in Bruges since 2002. Anna Triandafyllidou has received her BA in sociology from Panteion University in Athens, Greece (1990) and her PhD in the Social and Political Sciences from the European University Institute of Florence (1995). She has held teaching and research positions at the University of Surrey (1994-95), London School of Economics (1995-97), Consiglio Nazionale per le Ricerche in Rome (1997-99), New York University (2001), Bristol University (2001-02) and European University Institute of Florence (1992-1994 and 1999-2004). She has been Assistant Professor at the Democritus University of Thrace between 2007 and 2010 and is currently on unpaid long-term leave from this University. She has been part time Professor at the RSCAS of the European University in the period 2009-2012. She has published more than 100 articles in refereed journals and chapters in collective volumes on these topics. She has authored five books and edited and co-edited 15 volumes. For more details on her work please visit: www.annatriandafyllidou.com Angeliki Dimitriadi / Postdoctoral Research Fellow., ELIAMEP Angeliki Dimitriadi studied International Relations &History at the London School of Economics (1999-2002) and obtained her MA in War Studies from King’s College London (2002-2003). She was awarded with distinction her Ph.D. in Social Administration from Democritus University of Thrace (2009-2012), which was partially realized with a scholarship from the Leventis Foundation. Her research interests lie in the field of irregular & transit migration from South and Southeast Asia, the securitization of migration and asylum policies, as well as gender issues &social inclusion. She has contributed in researches and studies on social policy issues and has previously worked on the submission and management of European funded projects and initiatives. She speaks English and French. Danai Angeli / Junior Research Fellow, ELIAMEP Danai Angeli is a lawyer and a PhD candidate at the European University Institute in Florence. She currentlί έorks as a researcher in the MIDAS Project (“Assessing the CostEffectiάeness of Irregular Migration Control Policies in Greece”). She read laέ at the University of Athens, holds an LL.M. degree in International, European and Comparative Law from the European University Institute and an LL.M degree in International Human Rights Law from the University of Essex. She has provided legal representation to irregular migrants and asylum seekers in several cases before the European Court of Human Rights and recently acted as a chair of the appeal committees of the new asylum service in Greece. Her research interests are in the area of positive obligations under international human rights law, in particular towards vulnerable groups. 3
